Jodie attended Morehead State University. She also received her EMT and CPR Instructor Certification. She worked with the ambulance service for 8 years. Jodie decided that she wanted to work with kids and wanted to serve her community in a different way.
Jodie began working at the Bath County Middle School as the Secretary/Bookkeeper for 13 years; then transferred to the High School as the Secretary. Jodie enjoyed the day to day interaction with students. She felt she wanted to work more closely with children. She became very attached to students with special needs and advocated for them. Jodie transferred to the position of Student Employment Coordinator (CWTP Employment Specialist). She has been the Employment Specialist for 8 years. She loves taking the students to different businesses to explore and train, in hopes of these students receiving paid employment after they graduate.
Jodie lives in Preston with her husband, Mike Ratliff. She has one daughter and two grandchildren. Her hobbies include fishing, going to yard sales, writing, visiting her grandchildren, playing Rook, and photography. She published her first book in 2010 called Nana's Scrambled Memories. She is currently writing her second book. Her future plans are to retire this school year, travel and continue writing.
