In this 9-week course, eighth graders will focus on the five “Big Ideas” in the vocational studies curriculum.  These big ideas are: Consumer Decisions, Financial Literacy, Career Awareness/Exploration/Planning, Employability Skills, and Communication/Technology. This program provides opportunities for students to investigate career options and study the relationship between careers and life roles.  Students will use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as online learning programs and Google classroom.  All students must have an Acceptable Use Policy form signed and brought back in order to use the Internet in the classroom.

  • What's going on this week?

In the computer lab, 8th grade students have been working with career interest surveys in order to narrow down which fields they're most intersted in as their future career.  We took various career surveys, compared and contrasted the results, and now we are finding specific jobs of interest and finding the education required, the salary, and other specifics about each job.  Students have also created a travel brochure to learn to use more of the formatting functions in Microsoft Word.  We are also learning to use Google Docs and Microsoft Publisher.
