  • September

Over the next couple weeks, students will be digging into the book Inside Out and Back Again. The students have read a portion of this book already but will begin a more intense study of particular poems. Additionally, students will be reviewing other writings from the time of the war in Vietnam. While the book is historical fiction, students will also be reading first-hand accounts as well as other non-fiction stories to better understand the world Ha and her family were in.

Here are a few dates to look forward to . . .

*On September 11, students will be completing the Fall MAP tests. At the end of this week, I will be working with each student to review last year's scores and to set a goal for this fall.

*On September 12, students will be visiting the school library. Students will only be able to visit the library during class once every other week, so I've been reminding them to ensure they remember their books.

*On September 15, students will have a vocabulary test over the words we've studied over the past five weeks. (As bell work each day, students have been working on a different word each week in an effort to boost their vocabulary knowledge.

  • Welcome Back!

It has been a very busy first two weeks of school! Now that we've all settled in and gotten most of the benchmarks out of the way, we're beginning our regular classwork.

I will use this website to post powerpoint presentations and documents used in class, separated by weeks.

For this week, there is not much. We were not in school on Monday, Tuesday was library/reading goal day, and yesterday, Mrs. Wells and Mrs. Lewis conducted Suicide Prevention Training in all 8th grade reading classes. On Thursday we started the Lesson 1 PowerPoint and worked through this Thursday and Friday.

If you have any questions, please never hesitate to contact me!
