Intro to Physics is a laboratory science class that is based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The class will be more student-centered as opposed to teacher-centered, as outlined in the NGSS. NGSS focus on the teacher being the facilitator of the learning experience as opposed to the giver of knowledge. Students will be given reading assignments, labs, and practices to prepare them for assessments. The teacher will facilitate discussions to ensure students glean the information that they are supposed to attain from these learning experiences. To earn the highest grade possible, it is imperative that students participate in the learning experiences and discussions. Topics will include motion, forces, conservation of energy, conservation of momentum, waves, electromagnetic radiation, electricity, and magnetism.
