Hello! Thanks for visiting my webpage. I am Ashley Johnson. My job in Bath County is Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. But this job is also my lifelong passion!
I was born and raised in Pike County, Kentucky. I am an only child to two fantastic parents! My deafness was discovered when I was 16 months old and I have been blessed with the adventures that deafness brings in life. I attended public school and have many personal experiences that being deaf or hard of hearing in a public school setting brings such as use of an FM system or access to the general education curriculum along with advocating for personal needs such as closed captioning on all television in the school. I use two hearing aids in everyday life. I graduated from Shelby Valley High School with honors and then attended Eastern Kentucky University. Go Colonels! It was here that I fell in more love with the language known as American Sign Language. I received my Bachelors in Deaf Education P-12 and a minor in American Sign Language in 2013. I am currently in the process of receiving my Masters. This will be my 2nd year of teaching in Bath County.
Currently, I live in the wonderful town of Owingsville, Kentucky. My passions outside of school are hiking, camping, taking photographs and most of all, reading! I have three pets. They are two Dachshund puppies named Kitty Kat and Sammy, and one cat named Kali. My favorite book of all time is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
