¡Hola! I am originally from upstate New York, but moved to Winchester when I was 6 years old and completed my public education in Clark County. Now I live in Lexington. I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in the Spring of 2011. I had the opportunity to teach Spanish to elementary students as an undergraduate and I worked with some amazing educators at Model Laboratory School who taught me everything I know. I will never know everything though, and that is why I've decided to be a lifelong learner. School is where I feel most at home and working with kids adds the variety to work life that I need. My first experience with the Spanish language took place as a freshman in high school, sitting in a Spanish 1 class. The posters with words and phrases and mysterious punctuation intrigued me and I immediately wanted to know this language. I was able to travel to Mexico to study abroad my sophomore year of college with the Kentucky Institute for International Studies for 6 weeks. Being immersed in the language and culture, although it was only for 6 weeks, really improved my fluency and global comprehension. Before that, I had never been anywhere except the eastern coast of the U.S. I enjoy sharing my experiences with my students and look forward to teaching and learning with them everyday.
