From Harvey Tackett, Superintendent of the Bath Co. Schools: We had yet another occurrence of a message at the Bath County Middle School. Upon becoming aware of the message, we immediately implemented our safety and security measures which, among other things, included notifying law enforcement and beginning an investigation. After a short period of time it was determined by school officials and law enforcement that the message was not credible and did not pose a risk to students, staff, or visitors. We are continuing to investigate to determine the perpetrator attempting to disrupt the education of our students. We ask that you speak with your child(ren) to see if they have any idea who it is that may be disrupting valuable time. Should you discover any information you feel important, we ask you immediately contact Bath County Middle School and Owingsville Police Department so that we may investigate further. As a result of these needed actions, the school and district will continue to monitor and restrict freedoms within the school environment by more closely supervising our students, belongings, and all school property. We will continue to keep your child(ren) safe from harm by continually reevaluating as any new information comes forth. As always, our top priority will be the safety and well-being of our students attending the Bath Co. School District.
