The weightlifting team competed this past weekend in the push/pull state championships at North Bullitt High School. Our JV team won the State Championship. Our team competed against much larger schools from all across the State. There is a maximum of 100 points possible. We scored 82 points with the next closest team being St. Xavier, a private school from Louisville with a score of 53 points. The individual medal winners are as follows: Quentin Lewis 148lb State Champion, Hunter Donathan 220lb State Champion, Tanner Butcher 308lb State Champion, Jamie Gamble 275lb State Champion, Brady Pitts SHW State Champion, John Landsaw 308lb State Runner Up, Jacob Flora 123lb State Runner Up, Griffin Fraley 275lb 3rd place, Chris Norris 220lb 3rd place, William Johnson 132lb 3rd place, Skylar Smith 3rd place, Christian Arnett White 3rd place. A lot of our lifters lifted up in a heavier class and still won the State championship by a rather large total of weight. In several of our classes, our lifters won by over a 100 pounds total, which is a large accomplishment. This makes back to back JV team State Championships for the Bath County Powerlifting Team. Congrats to all the team members. They put in a lot of work each and every day. They learn to fight both physical and mental barriers to reach their goals.
