Sponsored by the ITEEA and Paxton/Patterson, the Program Excellence Award is one
of the highest honors given to Technology and Engineering classroom programs on
the elementary, middle or high school levels. It is presented in recognition of
outstanding contributions to the profession and students. Schools from all over the
United States and around the world compete for this honor.
This year Mr. Ricky Prater and Bath County High School were one of 37 schools from
across the United States recognized with the Program Excellence Award at the first
general session of the International Technology and Engineering Educators
Bath County High School has developed an Engineering Technology facility which
includes CNC milling, 3D printer design and fabrication, and a state of the art
broadcasting facility. The program also serves as a gateway for developing leaders
within the school by participating in the Technology Student Association where Bath
County students have qualified for and participated in the National TSA Conference
for the last six years in a row. In 2017 Bath County TSA received the TSA Chapter
Excellence Award and Mr. Prater was named the Kentucky TSA Advisor of the Year.
Bath County has also been fortunate to have state TSA officer the last five years as
well as many regional officers.
